
West of I-15 on either side of Blue Diamond Rd. you will find nothing many custom homes on acreage or undeveloped land. This is a checkerboard of homes and vacant parcels. North of here is Spanish Trails, an exclusive gated community. Directly west of I-15, on Sahara, east and west of Rainbow are what are referred to locally as sections 10 and 11. Beautiful custom homes located here on large lots, with the additional advantage of being close in. Farther west is "The Lakes" Southern Nevada's first man made lake community. New construction in the southwest is somewhat pricey compared to many other areas currently being developed. Note: A newer planned community, Southern Highlands, is being built just west of the Lake Mead exit on I15. A number of builders have participated. There are presently only 3 developments ongoing at Southern Highlands The golf course and country club will be private. I have been told that membership will be by invitation only. Note: New construction has boomed in this area over the last year. Most of the construction, exclusive of Southern Highlands, has been north of the Blue Diamond Rd. area both east and west of Durango. The newest planned community in this area is Mountain's Edge. It is well underway with over 20 builders currently selling. Rhodes Ranch is a guard gated golf community in the far western edge of this southwest area. The prices in the southwest tend to be somewhat lower than Summerlin, but higher than in the north and eastside, excepting Henderson.
