John S. Park Neighborhood
Las Vegas homes and real estate
This central, east side neighborhood is bordered on the south by Oakey and on the north by Charleston. The boundary on the west side is Las Vegas Blvd and on the east, most of the homes are west of Ninth St.. Homes here were built mostly in the 1950’s. There is a active neighborhood association, the John S. Park Neighborhood Association. There are 444 homes in this association. The home owners represent the community as having more of a small town feeling. Neighbors know each other and , in fact, close off some of the streets and have a block party twice a year. People share their favorite dishes in front yards. There seems to be an evident community spirit here. It has been described as a middle class enclave in the middle of downtown by the Las Vegas Review Journal. When driving the neighborhood I am struck with the number of homeowners who are improving their properties. In many of the photos you can see the new high rise Soho Lofts in the background. In one photo, The Stratosphere is also visible.
Homes do very greatly in size. You will find more modest residences along with much larger homes.
